Why your Claude Max weekly limit runs out so fast

A prompt can be short while the resulting work is large. Investigating a repository, using tools and revising an answer can all involve more than the text you typed.

What affects usage

Anthropic lists conversation size, model, features and effort among the factors affecting usage in its usage and length limit guide. Claude’s connected product surfaces share the account’s allowance.

Give the task a clear scope

• Name the files, question and desired output that matter.
• Choose model and effort settings appropriate to the task.
• Review the relevant session, weekly and additional limits before a substantial run.

Use snapshots to understand where you stand

How Much Usage shows the account’s reported allowance when you request a check. It does not measure the cost of each prompt or forecast how many tasks remain. A reading before and after your work can provide context, but other sessions may also have used the account.

If an account is useful for a later task, mark it Save for later in the dashboard. This is a planning preference; it does not stop Claude, colleagues or another device from consuming that account’s allowance.

A paid How Much Usage upgrade connects more accounts. It does not reduce the tokens your Claude tasks consume or increase the limits supplied by Anthropic.
