Codex usage on ChatGPT plans: limits and how to check them
Find Codex’s own usage information, then compare the Codex allowances reported for your connected accounts. General ChatGPT and API usage are separate.

Codex can use the allowance included with an eligible ChatGPT plan. That does not make a Codex usage tracker a meter for everything you do in ChatGPT or the OpenAI API.
Check the official usage view
OpenAI documents a usage dashboard and the /status command in the Codex CLI. Its current usage guidance describes five-hour allowances, possible weekly limits and separate code-review usage. Which limits apply depends on the plan and feature.
Keep each reported window visible
How Much Usage displays the Codex windows returned for each connected account, including additional model limits when reported. A separate code-review allowance or credit balance is not interchangeable with general Codex capacity.
Connect and check deliberately
- Choose Codex in Add account and follow the current connection instructions.
- Press Refresh all to request a check, then inspect the reading age and any cooldown.
- Choose an account yourself. The dashboard does not switch the Codex app or CLI login.
